Historical Import vs Live Data
Understand the difference between backfilling old data and sending new observations.
Historical Import vs Live Data
These are two separate jobs:
Historical importbrings older observations into Meteobreeze in bulk.Live datasends new packets to Meteobreeze as they are recorded.
Use historical import when you want to preserve past weather records. Use live data when you want the dashboard to stay current.
Typical setup
The usual order is:
- Connect the live source.
- Confirm packets are arriving.
- Import existing history.
This gets Meteobreeze collecting fresh data as early as possible, then fills in the older record afterwards.
What each one needs
Historical import usually needs a CSV file or a supported source database. Live data usually needs an endpoint URL, device settings, or API credentials depending on the source.
